GEMA is a professional, non-regulatory association. It does not license, register, credential, or authorize the practice of medicine, and it does not provide medical advice or emergency services. Always seek in-person care in emergencies and comply with local laws and regulators. Inclusion of a clinician or clinic in any GEMA directory or register indicates verification of certain submitted details, not an endorsement of clinical outcomes or a substitute for due diligence.
About GEMA
Mission: to support safe, high-quality cross-border care for expatriates, travelers, and internationally mobile patients by offering professional standards, education, and verification services.
Membership: categories may include Student, Member, and Fellow; all require proof of national registration (where applicable) and good standing.
CPD and learning: members may record continuing professional development via the Site; acceptance of external courses is at GEMA’s discretion.
Registers and accreditation: GEMA may publish a public register of verified members and offer a “GEMA-Approved Clinic” accreditation subject to audits and ongoing compliance.
Conduct and complaints: members agree to a professional code of conduct. GEMA may receive complaints about listed members or clinics and may suspend, remove, or annotate listings after review.
Marks: “GEMA,” “Global Expat Medical Association,” and related marks are trademarks of Global Expat, Inc. Use requires written permission.
Accounts, fees, and refunds
Where accounts or paid memberships are offered, you are responsible for safeguarding login credentials. Fees, billing cycles, and refund rules (if any) will be shown at purchase and form part of these terms. We may suspend or terminate access for non-payment, misuse, or breach.
Data protection
We process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Notice (available on the Site). Cross-border processing may occur. You are responsible for complying with your own legal obligations (e.g., clinical confidentiality, data protection) when using the Site.
Disclaimer
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude all representations, warranties, and conditions relating to the Site and its use. Based in the UK, GEMA aligns with national medical regulators and Royal Colleges and recognises equivalent associations abroad to set practical cross-border standards in telemedicine, referrals, data protection, consent, and indemnity. Membership spans students to senior clinicians, verified on a public register, with CPD and clinic accreditation for expat care. Chapters in Europe, Americas, MENA, and Asia-Pacific. Status: under incorporation, a Global Expat initiative.
